Marcio Verri, CFA, CAIA

Partner and CEO of Kinea

Marcio is a partner, founder, and CEO of Kinea Investimentos and chairman of Kinea Private Equity’s Board of Directors, companies with assets under management in Multistrategy, Real estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Stocks and Fixed Income. Worked for 18 years at BankBoston, where he was vice president of capital markets, responsible for asset-liability, management, asset management, treasury, institutional sales, and products. Was a member of ANDIMA’s Ethics Committee and the Market Committee of BM&F. Marcio graduated in civil engineering from the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP). He has specialized in Finance from FGV-SP, Private Equity and Strategy from Harvard Business School, and Options and Management from INSEAD.

Partner and Infrastructure Fund Manager

Aymar trabalha na Kinea desde sua criação em 2007. É o sócio e responsável pela área dedicada a fundos de infraestrutura e de renda variável. Possui 20 anos de experiência com gestão de fundos de investimentos, sendo 14 deles em renda variável. Anteriormente à Kinea, trabalhou como gestor de investimentos na Franklin Templeton e no BankBoston Asset Management, onde esteve por 12 anos chegando a ser diretor estatutário. Aymar possui MBA pela Ross School of Business – University of Michigan, turma de 2001 e é graduado em engenharia de produção pela Universidade de São Paulo (Escola Politécnica -USP).

Carlos Martins

Partner and Equity Real Estate Fund Manager

Executive partner and manager responsible for equity real estate funds. Carlos is a founding partner of Kinea, responsible for implementing the real estate funds area. He has been working in the real estate industry since 2007, being responsible for asset management, investor relations, and business origination and capture. Actively participates in real estate investment committees. Prior to Kinea, he worked for 15 years at BankBoston, where he passed through the credit and international operations areas and for 6 years, was in the structured & corporate finance area. He started his career at Citibank. Carlos holds an MBA from the Boston School/Columbia University and an Executive MBA from IBMEC, currently Insper, and a degree in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EAESP-FGV) and attended the YMP (Young Manager Program) at INSEAD.

Flavio Cagno

Partner and Real Estate Receivables and Agro Fund Manager

Flavio joined Kinea’s fund management area in 2012. Prior to Kinea, he worked at RB Capital in the structuring and real estate investment areas and was responsible for coordinating the structuring and servicing teams. Previously, he worked at Vision Brazil Investments in structured credit. Prior to that, he worked at Capitania Asset & Risk Management and began his career at Pinheiro Neto Advogados Law Firm. Flavio has a degree in business administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (EASP-FGV), a law degree from the University of São Paulo Law School (USP), and a master’s degree in real estate from the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University.

Cristiano Lauretti

Managing Partner and Head of PE

Joined Kinea in September 2009. He is a partner responsible for the Private Equity area, with more than 20 years of experience in the area. He was an executive director at AIG Capital Partners in Brazil and served on the Board of Directors of companies such as Gol Linhas Aéreas and Companhia Providência. Since starting his activities at Kinea, he has served on the Board of Directors of Grupo Multi (Wizard), Delfin Group, ABC Group, Unidas, Eliane, AGV, and Uninter. He currently chairs the Board of Directors of Grupo Avenida, Grupo A, Centro Clínico Gaúcho, Dimed S.A. (Panvel), Wiser Educação (Wise-Up), and Cobasi. Prior to AIG and Kinea, he worked in Project Finance at Banco ABN Amro. He started his career as a trainee at Banco Itaú. Cristiano graduated in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo.

Marco Aurelio Freire

Partner and Liquid Funds Manager

Marco joined Kinea in January 2015 as the manager responsible for Hedge Fund Macro strategies. Between 2008 and 2014, he was the Chief Investment Officer for local fixed income and multistrategy funds at Franklin Templeton in Brazil. Marco has been involved in fixed income and multistrategy fund management since 2004, having worked at Bank Boston Asset Management in the fixed income desk. Marco has a master’s degree in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and a degree in economics from the same university.

Risk, Compliance and Controllership

Alessandro joined Kinea in April 2017, responsible for the Risks, Internal Controls and Compliance areas, and Controllership. He worked, between 2002 and March 2017, in the Fiduciary Administration area of Itaú Unibanco S/A and BankBoston, having been, since 2012, Superintendent of Fiduciary Administration of Itaú Unibanco. Previously, he worked between 1998 and 2002 in the Finance area of BankBoston, and also had an Audit experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers between 1994 and 1998. Alessandro has an MBA from the Boston School/Columbia University and a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Universidade Paulista.

Private Equity Executive Partner

Joined Kinea in April 2011. With more than 15 years of experience in the financial market, 10 of them in Private Equity, Camilo began his career at Rosenberg Partners and worked for 6 years in the Investment Banking area of Banco Itaú BBA, where he executed several M&A projects and public stock offerings. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo A Educação and Verzani & Sandrini, and was directly involved in deals like Delfin Imagem, Eliane Revestimentos Cerâmicos, Grupo ABC and AGV Logística. Camilo has a degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (EAESP-FGV), having studied for an academic semester at Tulane University (USA).

Products

Carolina joined Kinea in February 2020, taking on the role of Head of Products. Prior to this, she also worked in the Products and Risk area at Itaú. Carolina holds a degree in Business Administration.

Denis Ferrari

Manager of Fixed Income

Denis joined Kinea’s team in March 2015. Prior to Kinea, he was a manager of multimarket and fixed income funds at Franklin Templeton from 2010 to 2015. He was a manager of institutional fixed income funds at Votorantim Asset Management, being the main responsible for this segment. He also worked at Banco Itaú and BankBoston Asset Management as a fund manager, risk analyst, and capital markets analyst. Denis has an MBA in derivatives from the University of São Paulo (USP) in partnership with the Commodities and Futures Exchange (BM&F) and a degree in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP).

Partner and Private Equity Executive

Joined Kinea in October 2009. With 13 years of experience in the Private Equity segment, before joining Kinea, he was part of the investment team at AIG Capital Partners. Diego began his career in the investment banking segment at Banco UBS and later at Banco UBS Pactual, where he executed various M&A projects and public stock offerings. He is currently a member of the A Educação and Verzani & Sandrini Board of Directors and was directly involved in the Delfin Imagem, Eliane Revestimentos Cerâmicos, ABC Group, and AGV Logistics transactions. Diego has a degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (EAESP-FGV).

Eduardo Marrachine

Managing Partner

Joined Kinea PE in October 2009. With over 20 years of experience in the Brazilian private equity segment, he was an investment director at AIG Capital Partners when he served on the board of directors and IPO of Fertilizantes Heringer. He began his career at ExxonMobil as a financial analyst in 1997, later moving on to Banco Patrimônio Salomon Brothers and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria in corporate finance. At Kinea PE, Eduardo worked on investments in Unidas, Eliane, Uniter, and Matera, serving on the board of directors of the latter three companies. Eduardo holds a degree in public administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EAESP-FGV).

Operations

Fernando joined Kinea in April 2012. Previously, he worked at Banco Safra as the head of brokerage back-office and structured derivatives. For 18 years, he worked at BankBoston in the areas of controllership, products, operations, and treasury back-office. He began his career at Banco Safra in planning and control advising. Fernando has a degree in economics from the University of Sao Paulo (FEA-USP) and a degree in law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo (PUC-SP). He has a specialization in product and service management from the University of Sao Paulo (Poli-USP).

Gabriela Maluf

Marketing and Communication

Gabriela joined Kinea in November 2020, responsible for the Marketing area (BI and Planning, Communication, Media, and CRM). Previously, she was responsible for Digital Media at Claro and Nextel. She also worked in the Marketing area at Dafiti and Beleza na Web. Gabriela has a degree in Business Administration.

Gustavo Aleixo, CFA, FRM

Research

Gustavo joined Kinea in September 2007. He is the manager responsible for systematic funds. Previously, he worked at Banco Itaú and BankBoston Asset Management as a manager of multimarket funds, with more than 15 years of experience in traditional and systematic asset management. He was also a professor at the MBA in Derivatives at BM&F from 1998 to 2012, teaching courses on options, econometrics, and modeling. Gustavo has a degree in economics from the University of Sao Paulo (FEA-USP) with a master’s degree in economic theory from the same institution. He won the academic performance and best monograph awards in his undergraduate degree and won the BM&F thesis award in 2000.

Ivan Fernandes

Head of Private Credit

Ivan joined Kinea in January 2021 to manage the corporate credit area in liquid funds, with an initial portfolio of BRL3.2bn. Ivan made his career focused on investments in corporate instruments in Latin America (credit and equities), with macro overlay. He was Head of Latam Credit Research at Pictet Asset Management in London for the past 7 years after taking 10 years divided between Latam Investment Banking at JPMorgan (M&A + DCM), long/short Latam equities at Bassini+Co (NY), and Latam credit research at Barclays (NY). Ivan graduated in Electrical Engineering from Poli-USP, has an MBA from Yale, and is a CFA.

Ivan Simão

Sales and Investor Relations

Ivan joined Kinea in August 2014. Previously, he worked in investment product structuring at Itaú Unibanco. He also worked at Banco Indusval Multistock in the proprietary fund management area and on the derivatives desk at a brokerage associated with the institution. Ivan has a degree in Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP).

Manager of Corporate Venture Capital Funds

Philippe joined Kinea in July 2017 after his summer internship in 2016 and is the manager of the Corporate Venture Capital fund since the beginning of 2020, having worked in the first years at Kinea on the Private Equity team and participating in the investments in Grupo Dimed (Panvel) and Matera. Before that, he worked on the Portfolio Support Group team at Advent International. He also worked at the São Paulo Trade Association as an Investment Professional, monitoring portfolio companies, developing new products, and leading new investments/new business areas. He started his career as an M&A analyst at Olimpia Partners. Philippe has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Rafael Oliveira, CFA

Long Only Equity Funds Manager

Rafael joined Kinea in September 2019 as the manager responsible for long-only equity funds. Previously, he worked at Credit Suisse, Itaú BBA, and Banco Alfa, analyzing listed companies from various sectors and managing equity portfolios. Most recently, he was a partner at Grupo XP, managing exclusive equity portfolios. He began his career at Gerval, a family office, of the Gerdau family. Rafael has a degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and a postgraduate degree in Economics from the same institution.

Ricardo Sakai, CAIA, FRM

Risk Manager

Ricardo joined Kinea in October 2013 as part of the Middle Office area, becoming responsible for the Risk area in December 2020. In his professional career, he worked in some financial institutions such as Banco Safra, Itaú BBA, and HSBC Bank Brazil, with roles in Brokerage Back-Office, Treasury Management Control, and Pricing. Ricardo has a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the USP Polytechnic School.

Ruy Alves

Manager of Global Macro Fund

Ruy joined Kinea in February 2020 as the manager responsible for global equities. Previously, he was the manager responsible for global equities strategies at ADAM Capital, JGP, and Aviva Investors in London. Ruy has a Master’s in Finance from London Business School, an MBA in Finance from IBMEC, and a degree in Business Administration from UERJ. Ruy was also a finance professor at IBMEC-RJ and has specialization courses in management from INSEAD and LBS.
